Fire at Omaha chemical plant forces residents to evacuate their homes

A huge fire broke out at a substance plant close to downtown Omaha Monday night, constraining a few occupants to empty their homes and leaving hundreds without power.

Smoke from the NoxCrete office was highlighted in photographs shared by the Omaha Fire Department, which makes synthetic substances as per its site.

Omaha Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Fitzpatrick let NBC News know that nobody was working when firemen showed up at the scene around 7 p.m. Neighborhood time (8 p.mET) on Monday night.

He said no passings were accounted for as of Monday night. It isn't clear what caused the fire. Notwithstanding, the fire made a few huge propane chambers detonate, Fitzpatrick said.

We understand that too dangerous synthetic substances have been stored in this office," he added.
